Patja Takes Care of Access Control and Authentication at Elektrobit

Wireless technologies expert Elektrobit is exceptional in that it doesn't use fixed phone lines at all. It has used mobile phones as long as since 1994. Mobile devices are primarily used for communication purposes.

”The communication feature is their primary function. We haven't considered it necessary to include any ERP systems in them so far. Mobile terminals aren't yet sufficiently stable or developed compared to computers", says IT Director Olli Hyyppä of Elektrobit.

Elektrobit has 9 sites in Finland alone, and 15 in other countries. The staff spend a lot of time crisscrossing between the sites.

”With everyone having a mobile phone at hand, we reach people, not their offices. There are huge differences in mobile services between countries, though. Those of our staff who travel lot have learnt what is possible in which country. On a global scale the services are getting better and the differences between countries are evening out", Olli Hyyppä describes.

Elektrobit's Patja service covers all in all some 1,700 workstations, 101 servers and mobile devices. The new agreement complements the service with Mobile Enterprise and mPollux CallSign authentication and access control services. In addition, HelpDesk service expanded to cover the Elektrobit Group sites outside Finland.

Elektrobit specialises in wireless technologies - product design, lifecycle testing and production automation. The Elektrobit Group operates in 15 countries, employing in excess of 1,600 experts. Potentiality and ease of communication brought by mobility facilitate collaboration between continents.
